The
Rule of Thirds
Taking more impressive
pictures isn’t hard but takes work, the rule of thirds is the easiest to apply but
tricky to master. Beginning photographers tend to not focus on the object. By
focusing merely on the center object, by doing this you draw the eye to focus
on the center. The rule of thirds has you mentally superimpose this grid upon
your scene and move the subject so that it sits on one of these lines. Be aware
that the closer you are to a subject the more difficult it is to apply the rule
of thirds. For example full length portraits, require you to place your subject
to one side of the center of the image. Another example is with close up
portraits the subject would be the eyes because they fall nicely on the
vertically third line and the top third line.
